Reliable systems.
Curious by nature.

I’m Ryan Duffy. I work in site reliability at BT and explore applied AI through Rootweaver, an independent research platform I develop and operate.

Based in Ipswich, UK.

From networks
to AI systems

My background is in keeping networks and services working: tracing faults across distributed systems, restoring service and understanding why things failed.

That experience shapes the questions I bring to AI. What evidence should we trust? How do we know a retrieval result is useful? What happens when an agent gets something wrong?

Rootweaver is where I investigate those questions. It gives me a place to design experiments, connect systems and examine their behaviour over time.

How I work

I use AI agents extensively for implementation. I own the problem selection, architecture, controls, acceptance criteria, verification and operational outcome.

For me, the interesting work is turning an idea into something that can be tested, challenged and understood.

Start with a question
Define what we need to learn and what evidence would change the decision.
Make behaviour inspectable
Keep decisions, observations and uncertainty visible.
Learn from operation
Use failures and measured results to inform the next change.

Away from work

I enjoy anime and gaming. Gaming used to be my main hobby, but lately experimenting and building systems has taken over much of that time.

Rootweaver is a big part of that. It’s something I work on because I enjoy trying ideas out, seeing what happens and figuring out how to make things work.
